Status: Updates available for both Amazon and iBooks.

Me 3 minutes after I got the email from Amazon that the update worked.
I call it “portrait of a relieved author”.

If you preordered or bought San Francisco Love on release day from Amazon or iBooks, you might receive the wrong book. Why? Because I screwed up. Royally.

Really wish there was someone else I could blame…

The deadline to upload San Francisco Love was February 1st.

That was also the day that I briefly lost Preschooler Dubois in a department store. I was a mess post-mall crisis, but really wanted to make sure that I uploaded a new version of San Francisco Love, since I’d made some typo corrections recently. I dashed to my computer, uploaded the new file, and then back to lecturing my child about the dangers of running off. She insisted she didn’t “run off” because she was walking, and she had to go find her headband which she’d dropped. Right.

What I actually did was to overwrite the San Francisco Love file with an old version of San Francisco Lost.

Me when I realized what I’d done.

And I didn’t realize until it was too late to fix it.

When I realize I can’t fix it because the book is locked.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Also, I am going to buy one of those kid leashes.

How to get the correct file at iBooks.

  1. On your iOS device, tap iBooks. If a book is open, tap on Library at the top left to close it.
  2. At the bottom right you should see “Purchased” and there may even be a red badge with a number in it showing you how many book updates are available.
  3. Tap on Purchased. Then, tap on Updates, in the middle at the top.
  4. Now, tap on the individual books to update by tapping on the blue update button on the left or tap on update all to update all of the books. You should use Wi-Fi as some books may be large and the process of updating may take some time.
